Internal Errors ORA-600 / ORA-7445 (last hour)

Metrics install automatically if you have Redgate Monitor installed.

If you are using Redgate’s SQL Server monitoring tool, Redgate Monitor, you can instantly install and run this metric on your servers.

ORA-00600 (internal error) and ORA-07445 (operating-system exception) indicate that Oracle hit a condition its own code did not expect. They can signal bugs, corruption, or resource problems and should always be investigated, often with a support SR.

Required permissions:

GRANT SELECT ON V_$DIAG_ALERT_EXT TO redgate_monitor_user CONTAINER=ALL;
GRANT SELECT ON V_$CONTAINERS TO redgate_monitor_user CONTAINER=ALL;

These are covered by Redgate Monitor’s standard Oracle monitoring user — if it was set up as described in the product documentation, no additional grants are needed.

Internal Errors ORA-600 / ORA-7445 (last hour)

Description

Counts either error in the alert log within the last 60 minutes, per container. Querying V$DIAG_ALERT_EXT reads the alert log and can be heavier than a typical view query — always bound it with the originating_timestamp predicate as shown, avoid collection intervals shorter than a few minutes, and test execution time on a non-production instance first.

Description

ORA-00600 or ORA-07445 errors were written to the alert log for this container within the last hour. Check the alert detail text for the most recent message, review the referenced trace files, and consider raising an Oracle support request (SR). Some environments have a known, benign, recurring ORA-600 caused by an Oracle bug (identifiable by its problem key / My Oracle Support note) — on those instances, raise the alert threshold above the known baseline rather than disabling the alert, so an unusual volume of internal errors still alerts.
