Tablespace Used % (worst per container)

Install metric...

Metrics install automatically if you have Redgate Monitor installed.

If you are using Redgate’s SQL Server monitoring tool, Redgate Monitor, you can instantly install and run this metric on your servers.

Creating one metric per tablespace works, but a single metric that tracks the worst permanent tablespace in each container covers every tablespace in every PDB — including ones created later — and names the offenders in the alert.

Required permissions:

GRANT SELECT ON CDB_TABLESPACE_USAGE_METRICS TO redgate_monitor_user CONTAINER=ALL;
GRANT SELECT ON CDB_TABLESPACES TO redgate_monitor_user CONTAINER=ALL;

These are covered by Redgate Monitor’s standard Oracle monitoring user — if it was set up as described in the product documentation, no additional grants are needed.

Metric definition

Name

Tablespace Used % (worst per container)

Description

Tracks the highest used percentage among permanent tablespaces in each container, measured against the maximum size each tablespace can reach (autoextend-aware). One metric covers every permanent tablespace in every PDB and raises a separate alert per container; the alert detail text lists all permanent tablespaces with their used percentages, worst first. UNDO and TEMP are excluded (undo idles low but can spike under load and would otherwise dominate the MAX; temp has its own metric).

Supported database engine

Alert definition

Alert name

Tablespace running out of space (worst per container)

Description
